Today, we are going to present our story about STRIVING FOR ACCURACY! The story that we are going to present is one of the examples of striving for accuracy. Be prepared to break your funny bone and sit back to watch our little show!

• A violent war between Task Force and Ultranationalists has just happened recently. “Your job is to assassinate this fellow, Ultranationalist leader, General Kay Kiat. You get this? Sergeant Zhong Zin?” Staff Sergeant Xuhui commanded furiously. “Erm ok…so it is this guy...with the ears...’ Zhong Zin mumbled to himself. “I warn you, this mission is really very risky, so, if you were to succeed, you would be able to get a promotion and a high payment. “One shot one kill, you understand? If you miss the shot just escape or retaliate! General Lim’s guard, Wynn Lia, is a sharpshooter! She would be able to spot you within a few seconds! The war would commence in about 18 hours. Please take a nap.” Staff Sergeant Chan warned.

• 18 hours later Zhong Zin appeared fully armed, with a Intervention in his left hand. He then boarded the helicopter, UH.60 Blackhawk. Within a few moments, Sergeant Lee landed peacefully on the top of the mountain. He began setting up his sniper rifle. He then focused his scope on General Lim. Sergeant Lee aimed his rifle at Lieutenant General Kay Kiat, the sudden bang from the weapon rocked the grounds. Although the bullet went wide, it missed Kay Kiat by a few inches. After shooting aggressively at General Lim, he was finally killed, with brain juice spraying out from the hole made by the bullet.

• His bodyguard, Wynn Lia stared with fury at the assassin. She took careful aim and shot Zhong Zin at his thigh. Zhong Zin, with his last breath, shot Wynn Lia in the head. The assassination was a victory, but it cost Zhong Zin’s his life… This story teaches you that you have to strive for accuracy or it might cause a lot of trouble and even your life.

l Every time I see the words ‘Striving for Accuracy’, I think of the time when I was in primary school…

l “Bob! You have to do your work properly from now on! I know that you have an intelligent mind, but you also have a very bad work attitude! Seeing that everyday, all you do is laze around in class and at home, I shall now have no choice but to make you practice this habit of mind, ‘Striving for Accuracy’. Being that this month has just started, I expect to see fruitful results by the end of this month. If not, you are grounded!” scolded my father, who is also my Maths teacher. ‘Okay, okay! I’ll try.’ I sighed heavily. That was the third time I had been lectured for that day, and I was already getting tired of hearing the same words over and over again.

l I then made my way to my study room to do my homework. I was just about to whip out my pen and scribble furiously on my workbook when my teacher’s words rang loudly in my ears. ‘Oh!’ I exclaimed suddenly, thinking of the dire consequence of being grounded, and then proceeded to check and do each question carefully.

l As the weeks passed by quickly, I noticed that, due to continuous practice of the habit of mind ‘Striving for Accuracy”, my homework had improved leaps and bounds. My father was very delighted with the improvement and praised, “Well done, Bob! You should continue this habit of mind throughout your lifetime!”

• James was sitting on the stone bench at the resting corner just downstairs, below the HDB block. He was now upset and did not know how to face his parents.

• He failed this paper, but still he repeatedly convincing himself that 30/100 was enough. He kept sighing. He was looking really moody and the Uncle Poh, the cleaner, was concerned, but still, he kept quiet.

• He (cleaner) had been working really hard for the past few years, going all the way to sweep litter, wash the floor, and when a kid fell, he went all the way to help him up and comfort him.

• Despite his tough job, he never failed to keep a smile on his face; and it was obvious that he took pride in his work.

• James was impressed but never dared to ask the cleaner what kept him going. When the cleaner had finished his job, James was still fretting away.

• Uncle Poh limped over to frowning James, and told him three words, “do your best”. The cleaner explained that he did not work hard in the past, and had to quit school at young age.

• His parents slogged all out for him, just to put bread on the table, and support all the children so that they could have a fulfilled education throughout.

• The sad thing was, Uncle Poh took it all for granted, and he was always full of himself and terribly complacent.

• When assigned tasks and given leadership roles, he never bothered to check for errors. This influenced all his siblings, and their characters were, one by one, going down the drain.

• They splurged and didn’t set any targets or had a basic requirement of themselves. Their parents eventually passed away, and they were left to fend for themselves. Because he did not strive for accuracy and his life was ruined.

• James realized that everyone had to strive for accuracy, especially him. He couldn’t give up, and all he had to do was to set his next goal, keep improving, and remember that a bright future was awaiting him.

• All of us must do our very best in all aspects of life, all the time. We must keep a positive attitude and improve with every attempt.

• When we are faced with challenges, we have to remember that it is our duty to solve it well, and treat it like a hurdle.

• With every hurdle, we must improve and do our very best. Only then will we put ourselves in a higher level and be stronger than ever.

Dr John See is a renowned doctor. He became famous after performing the world’s first heart bypass surgery and after that, many people consulted him. After a string of successful surgeries, he soon became greedy for more wealth and fame. He decided to rush through every operation that he had to earn as much money as he could.

Once in a rush, he accidentally cut a blood vessel by mistake and the patient died unfortunately. Dr John was remorseful of his carelessness and he was very regretful of his actions. He realised that it was more important to save the patient as a doctor instead of being just a doctor who thinks that money is more important.

From this story, we can deduce that striving for accuracy is very important and essential in our life be it being a children or an adult. We should learn to practice striving for accuracy in order to prevent unnecessary mistakes in our work.
